A charming Baltic and Nordic escape, hopping between historic Tallinn and hip Helskinki – includes flights, ferry transfer and breakfast

Experience two of Europe's most up-and-coming capital cities during this Baltic adventure, which splits your time between the medieval charms of Estonia's Tallinn and the picturesque shorelines of harbour-side, hip Helsinki - complete with cool hotel stays worth writing home about.

Start your trip in the medieval enclave of Estonia's capital Tallinn, where the UNESCO-listed Old Town takes pride of place. One of Europe’s most complete walled cities, its beguiling, fairy-tale feel is helped along by medieval streets, ancient churches and grand merchants’ houses. Sitting in the middle of this Instagram-worthy culture is Kreutzwald Hotel Tallinn, a recently renovated pad that has upgraded its original mid-century limestone shell into a comfy and elegant space in the heart of the city. Unwind in the nearby Zen Spa and feast on locally-sourced ingredients in the hotel’s Nipernaadi Restaurant.

After a short ferry crossing over the Gulf Of Finland, you’ll arrive in Helsinki, one of Europe’s best-kept secrets. Teeming with restaurants and bars, as well as historic buildings and innovative architecture and design (as well as plenty of saunas), the city mixes everything from Art Nouveau and neo-Renaissance to modernist and neoclassical styles into its impressive visual tapestry. Your equally impressive hotel keeps in line with the Finnish capital’s design-forward approach – it sits in a 1920s industrial building, blending chic boutique vibes with a trendy warehouse aesthetic.

This historic TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence-winning hotel is situated near to the National Library, one of the most famous landmarks in the city, and takes its name from the very same building. The Standard room comes decorated in warm and soothing yellows and dark woods, and boasts Wi-Fi, a flatscreen TV, direct dial telephone, a mini-safe and minibar, and air conditioning. Head down to the stylish Nipernaadi Restaurant (named after a famous Estonian literary character) and you’ll find locally-sourced ingredients at the heart of its culinary concept. Expect fish from Lake Peipsi, herbs and vegetables from Vihula Manor and meat from the south of the country. After a day taking in the city’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, head to the Zen Spa – located 100 metres away from the hotel – which combines Asian Zen philosophy with organic products and a raft of massages and treatments. There’s also a sauna and Japanese pool onsite.

She spent time with me working out all the finer details. The original destination I didn’t want to go to and the flights were not very nice times. So she talked through other destinations and flight times.

Service rating : The experience was excellent. The guides were very informative and they knew their history,

The hotels were an excellent choice and all staff were very helpful and polite.

The only bad experience was being taken to shops/workshops where we were shown items of jewellery, clothing or shown how traditional works are done and (although not expected or pressurised) felt that the vendor tried to sell the items to us when we did not wish to purchase any of them. I did not pay to be taken to these places and did feel very uncomfortable when the patrons told us that we would only need to pay (an amount) and they would ship this direct to our house, no hassle!!! we did tell the last guide that we did not want to go to any of these shops/workshops.
Product : excellent value for money

Viva holidays were very helpful however there was no transfers included in the package. Which left us to sort it out ourselves plus the hotels were very far from the city centre.
Their customer service was really good.
