A fantastic trip to Norway's Oslo and Bergen, with one of the world's most scenic intercity train journeys - includes breakfast, flights and an optional fjord excursion

Nature's been kind to Norway, gifting it breathtaking mountains and serene fjords. It's a place with a charm that's all its own, contrived from its Viking-laden history and atmospheric natural light, be it bright high summer or the dulcet winter dark. This escape takes in two of Norway's most popular cities, Oslo and Bergen, whisking you between both by railway – an experience of a lifetime.

You'll start with two or three nights in Oslo, staying in the peaceful St. Olavs plass, which lies just a short walk from many of the city's best sights, such as the Opera House, the National Gallery and the Town Hall. Slottsplassen and the Royal Palace, with its surrounding park, are just a stone's throw away, whilst the nearby harbour offers boat links to Bygdøy, where you'll find a plethora of fascinating museums. Opt to complete this extraordinary experience with a two-hour fjord sightseeing boat tour in Oslo, which will see you exploring narrow sounds, idyllic bays and a maze of islands lined with pretty summer houses.

Next, you'll hop aboard the train to travel some of the world's highest tracks as you journey towards Bergen on Norway's west coast. The Bergensbanen railway is a feat in itself, charging its way through 308 miles of tricky terrain and climbing some 1,200 metres to do so. An impressive 182 tunnels were forged through the landscape's gneiss rock, between which you'll watch the scenes roll by, be them serenely snow-capped or breathtakingly vast.

Arriving in Bergen, you'll make your way to your dead-central hotel, which sits on Vagen Bay. Bryggen, a UNESCO-protected wharf that displays a traditional style of architecture, is achingly close (you can even view it from parts of the hotel), while other attractions are within walking distance, such as Bryggen Museum, Bergen Museum and the Hanseatic Museum and Schøtstuene.

Location
Hotel is located in calm surroundings, within a short distance from Karl Johan Street. The perfect starting point for you who are seeking an active city life and exciting experiences. The National Theatre and its traditional Theatercaféen are located just a short walk away. Walk in Ibsen’s footsteps through the Royal Palace Gardens and visit his reconstructed apartment at the Ibsen Museum. Shopping, culture and restaurants at Aker Brygge and Tjuvholmen are just a 15-minute walk away. The airport bus stops 350 metres from our hotel, and with its location within walking distance from Nationaltheatret station, you can easily take the airport express train, Flytoget, to Oslo Airport Gardermoen.

Viva did all good and managed to get my friend join us. I would have given 5*stars but some how they forgot our Bernina train tickets. We had to remind them then we got the tickets just in time.
Also, the transfer from Milan airport to the hotel was not included & we were not told how far it was and how much it will cost. We had a shock we had to pay almost €100 in the taxi.
The highlight of the trip was snow train The Bernina Express, the journey was four hours but we enjoyed for only two hours as the next two hrs couldnt see anything outside as it drew evening darkness. It would have been nice if the travel in this train wouldve been in the morning Chur to Tirano.

Service rating : They did everything I expected them to and we had a really good holiday.
Product : I’ve just answered this question why do you ask it me again in a different way?

Europe & Africa

Service rating : Great initial contact. The phone number sent via email to contact viva wasn’t answered but another found online was and all queries answered excellently.
Product : Great value. No complaints. Hotel in Venice didn’t have a bar but plenty within a short walk.

NIAGARA FALLS & NEW YORK BREAK

Service rating : They need to review the hotels that they send people to as the Wyndham NY hotel must be the worst hotel that I have had the misfortune to stay in (see full review on trip advisor under CliffB08
Product : Niagara Sheraton on the falls hotel great position with great views. Wyndham NYC hotel great position but badly in need of a face lift and staff rude and abrasive and the smallest room that I've ever been given.
