Poland ski break at the foot of the Tatras Mountains
A cosy and comfortable escape to the foot of the Tatras Mountains in southern Poland, with two-day ski passes, flights, and optional airport transfers
The undisputed winter capital of Poland, Zakopane is the lively resort at the foot of the country's Tatras Mountains close to the border with Slovakia. Given that these are the country’s only alpine-type mountains (they form the highest part of the huge transboundary arc that is the Carpathian chain), the sporting attractions are plentiful: skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating and hiking.
Just 400 metres from buzzy Krupowki Street and within easy distance of the ski-worthy blacks, reds, blues, and greens, Czarny Potok Hotel has plenty to please. The traditionally styled guest rooms prove to be comfy crash pads after long days on the slopes. Elsewhere, you’ll find a lovely spa with a heated indoor pool, a couple of saunas (Finnish and Turkish), a Jacuzzi, and treatment rooms for top-to-toe pampering using high-end products such as SkinCeuticals and Thalgo.
There’s also a restaurant for buffet-style breakfasts and a la carte dinners, and a 24-hour bar where you can kick back with a few shots of Polish vodka. The hotel shows off a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
You’ll be staying in the heart of Zakopane - Poland’s winter capital set at the foot of the Tatras Mountains. You’ll also be a five-minute walk from Krupowki Street - the town’s main pedestrian thoroughfare lined with pretty chalet-style restaurants, bars, cafés, art galleries, gift shops, and street vendors selling local handicrafts - and within easy distance of the cable car that zips to the top of Mount Gubalowka in around eight minutes. Hotel Czarny Potok is a 90-minute drive from John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice.
Room Type Standard Twin/Double
There’s a traditionally look in the comfortable guest rooms - picture earthy neutrals mixed with bold colour palettes, carpeted flooring, and floor-to-ceiling drapes. Your Standard room has a double bed (or twins), flatscreen TV with digital channels, and en-suite bathroom. Most Standard rooms also come with lovely mountain views.
- Flatscreen TV with digital channels

Dining: Open daily, the on-site restaurant serves hearty home-made cuisine prepared with fresh ingredients. Head here for buffet-style breakfasts, and return later in the day for à la carte dinners. There’s also a cosy bar that stays open around the clock.

You'll also find treatment rooms for customised facials, massages, and beauty therapies using products by SkinCeuticals, Thalgo and other high-end brands.
Ratings Guide: Excellent Good Poor Bad
Europe & AfricaViva did all good and managed to get my friend join us. I would have given 5*stars but some how they forgot our Bernina train tickets. We had to remind them then we got the tickets just in time.
Also, the transfer from Milan airport to the hotel was not included & we were not told how far it was and how much it will cost. We had a shock we had to pay almost €100 in the taxi.
The highlight of the trip was snow train The Bernina Express, the journey was four hours but we enjoyed for only two hours as the next two hrs couldnt see anything outside as it drew evening darkness. It would have been nice if the travel in this train wouldve been in the morning Chur to Tirano.
VIENNA & SALZBURGService rating : Have used Viva twice via Secret Escapes and both times they've been excellent. All arrangements have been as stated with good quality hotels and transport trouble-free. Would recommend and use again.
Product : Hotels, flights and train all good and as stated in the travel documentation. Very efficient pre-holiday administration and trouble-free experience overall.
PRAGUE, VIENNA & BUDAPESTService rating : They did everything I expected them to and we had a really good holiday.
Product : I’ve just answered this question why do you ask it me again in a different way?
Europe & AfricaService rating : Great initial contact. The phone number sent via email to contact viva wasn’t answered but another found online was and all queries answered excellently.
Product : Great value. No complaints. Hotel in Venice didn’t have a bar but plenty within a short walk.
NIAGARA FALLS & NEW YORK BREAKService rating : They need to review the hotels that they send people to as the Wyndham NY hotel must be the worst hotel that I have had the misfortune to stay in (see full review on trip advisor under CliffB08
Product : Niagara Sheraton on the falls hotel great position with great views. Wyndham NYC hotel great position but badly in need of a face lift and staff rude and abrasive and the smallest room that I've ever been given.
